Facebook has recently tied up with major News publishers in the United States to enable a feature called ‘Instant Articles’ on its most popular social networking platform.
With this feature, users will seamlessly get instant updates on the news items directly. Major Publishing houses such as New York Times, BuzzFeed and National Geographic have tied up with Facebook to offer this service.
News articles to appear 10 times faster
With the introduction of ‘Instant Articles’, the news stories will appear on Facebook upto 10 times faster compared to the standard mobile web articles. The platform also has options for embedding advertisements in these articles, similar to what they do in their print editions.
The publishers can also track the performance of these articles through various analytics provided by Facebook. With these tools, the publishers can gather information on the amount of traffic received on an article along with analytics of users’ interests, trending topics and so on.
BBC News, The NBC, The Guardian, Spiegel, The Atlantic and Bild have also been involved in this initiative of Facebook.
