India’s IT major Infosys has made Vishal Sikka as its CEO & MD. Vishal would be the first outsider to take up this post. Chairman Narayan Murthy has also decided to step down from his post this month itself.
The decision to name Sikka as the head of the company has come to Infosys at a hard time. It is the first time that an outsider, who is not among the founder members of the company, is taking over the reigns. Vishal Sikka is the former SAP AG executive board member.
Narayan Murthy has announced that Sikka is the ideal choice for leading the company. He has tweeted that he was happy to welcome Vishal to Infosys and that he was confident that Infosys is in capable hands.
Rohan Murthy also to leave Infy
Narayan Murthy’s son Rohan, who had joined the company as an assistant to his father, will also be stepping down from the post. S Gopalakrisnan will also step down as Executive Vice Chairman of the company.
Vishal Sikka has also indicated that he was honoured on his new appointment. “I am honoured to lead Infosys which is an iconic co built by pioneers.” “Looking forward to work with & learn from talented Infoscions,” he added. Sikka also tweeted, “Humbled to lead Infosys an iconic pioneer in IT. Looking forward to learn & work with Infoscions & global clients on breakthrough innovation.”
