In a yet another rave party incident, the Mumbai police have detained over 100 partying youths, after raiding the roof top of one of the premier hotels in Mumbai on Sunday night.
The incident has again thrown open controversies regarding the IPL, as two of the IPL members were also detained and questioned by the Mumbai police, in relation to the rave party. Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnelle, from the Pune Warriors, team were the players detained. The commissioner of Police has however clarified that no one would be arrested until the medical tests proved that they had consumed drugs during the incident. The ACP has said that a total of 58 boys and 38 girls were taken to Cooper hospital for a blood and urine test. All of them, including the IPL players have been let out after collecting the samples for test.
The high profile party was happening at the Oakland Hotel in the posh area of Juhu in Mumbai. The police have reported to have seized 110 grams of cocaine and party drugs like Ecstasy (MDMA) from the venue. The party was being attended by a host of foreigners and Indian celebrities. It was also reported that the party had an invitation through Facebook, inviting a larger gathering. “Support the party not the drug” was the message posted. Meanwhile, Vishay Handa, the director of the Oakland Hotels, has been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
