Director Saket Choudhary’s first venture has proved to be a big yes among the cine-goers and the critics. The movie proves to be a good entertainer for the class audience with witty dialogues and intelligent narration.
As we all know the movie is a sequel to the 2006 movie ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’. Farhan Akhtar plays the role of Sid and Vidya Balan is Trisha in the story.
Sid and Trisha have moved on from their pre-marriage love days and are a happily married couple in the story. The story takes a turn when the couple encounter an “unplanned” baby in their life. Troubles start pouring in after this incident with increased responsibilities. In the process of the couple turning out to be full time parents, they miss their lovely “pre-kid” life. It would eventually lead to troubles in the wedding, with Sid seeking his brother in law (played by Ram Kapoor) for getting things sorted out.
The movie is enthralling. It leaves you with an intelligent portrayal of characters which haunt you for long time even after the movie is over. Farhan & Vidya do complete justice to their roles and neither would appear “acting” for the roles.
The audience would get to see Director Saket’s efforts all through the movie. A carefully written script with an equal balance of humour and emotion does not make audience feel bored at any point during the movie.
Arshad Sayed’s punching dialogues offer a treat during the first half. Vir Das definitely makes an impact on the audience with his role.
Bhawana Somaaya praised it – “#ShaadiKeSideEffects is witty, intelligent n full of insights . It addresses novel issues on gender, matrimony, parenthood, relationships…”
Taran Adarsh was also full of praises for the movie – “#ShaadiKeSideEffects movie review: Relatable, heart-warming, amusing and thoroughly enjoyable!”
Mayank Shekhar has tweeted – “#ShaadiKeSideEffects 2nd half’s a bit of a stretch, but some quality writing here: quirky, witty, real, funny, & Farhan’s phenomenal”
Milap Zaveri says – “#ShaadiKeSideEffects is a GEM of a film! The PERFECT rom-com which is a BRILLIANT slice of life film! Drumroll n applause to the makers!”
Actor Vir Das has said – “This wonderful film that I’m a small part of with great people who let me play the fool& be so so stupid.”
However there have been some negative comments as well from the movie goers :
Nikhil Choudhary says – “1st half was ok. No story. Just some random comic scenes. I would rather watch Kapil Sharma’s shows. PKSE was better. #ShaadiKeSideEffects”
