After the tragic death of nearly 300 people on-board MH17 flight in the conflict hit Ukraine region, major US and European airlines have suspended their operation to turmoil hit Israel region, after a rocket attack was carried out near the Tel Aviv airport.
The decision has come in the wake of taking precautionary measures to avoid any kind of damages to the passengers travelling to the war hit country of Israel.
Delta, United and American airlines cancel operations
Following an order from the the United States Federal Aviation Administration, almost all the airlines in the US have announced that their suspension of flights to Tel Aviv. Delta Airlines had to divert one of its flights, which had to land in France. The airlines has suspended its operations to Israel. United Airlines and American Airlines have also announced their suspension to Tel Aviv.
European airlines also cancel operations
Many of the European airlines including Lufthansa, Air-France and Dutch airline KLM Air Berlin have all suspended their operations to Israel. Norwegian Air and Scandinavian Airlines have also announced their halting of the operations.
Rocket attack near Israel airport
The diversions and suspensions have come in the wake of a rocket attack that landed at a distance of one mile from the Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv. Ben Gurion Airport is the most prominent international airport of Israel, which had seen about 14 million passengers passing through it, in the year 2013. Hence this could be a crucial target for the rival Hamas groups.
