Lok Sabha Elections from April 7 – May 12. Results on May 16

The Election Commission of India has announced the polling dates for the Parliament elections 2014. The elections will be held in 9 phases beginning from April 7 and will go on till May 12. The counting will take place on May 16 and the results are likely to be announced on the same day.

Telangana, Seemandhra, Orissa & Sikkim assembly elections

In addition to the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections are supposed to be held in the newly carved out Telangana and Seemandhra states in two phases – April 30 & May 7, Orissa – on April 10 & April 17 and Sikkim on April 12.

The major political parties BJP and the Congress have welcomed the decision.
