Virendra Sehwag has hit at MS Dhoni again. This has brought out the rift between the players in the Indian team into the limelight yet again.
In an indirect dig against Dhoni, Sehwag has commented that ‘Captaincy alone didn’t win us the World Cup’. Sehwag was mentioning about the victory of the Cricket World cup by the Indian team in 2011.
“Dhoni got a very strong team. When you get a strong team, it is easier to perform well just like Australia did at one point of time. We won World Cup because we had a very strong team which was ably backed by Dhoni’s leadership.” – Sehwag was reported as saying.
Sehwag gave the example of Australian victory to support his stance. “Isse pahle Australia bhi jab jeeti thee to unke paas team achhee thee. Steve Waugh kee wajah se naheen jeeti thee Australia.(When Australia won the World Cup, they had a good side. It was not because of Steve Waugh).”
It could be recalled that earlier, when India toured Australia this year, the rift between MS Dhoni and Virender Sehwag had become evident to the glaring eyes of the media. The incident had created ripples among the Cricket fans.
With this recent statement from Sehwag, the BCCI would be left to think again about resolving the differences in the Indian team. Things have not been working out well for the team and many suspect that it can be largely attributed to the off-pitch differences among the players.
