Flat trades in markets. Cairn India loses 5%

Markets have seen subdued trades after returning from the election holiday. The Sensex is at 22858, down by 20 points while the NSE Nifty is standing at 6837, down by 3 points.

Cement stocks such as ACC, Ambuja and UltraTech Cement have taken a beating after they announced the March quarter results.

Cairn India is the biggest loser on the index with 4.5% cuts.

Index heavyweight Reliance Industries has also seen 1% cuts.

Some of the banking stocks including ICICI Bank, PNB, Bank of Baroda and Indus Ind Bank – have all seen trades on the positive side.

The rupee has also opened flat at 61.06 v/s USD, compared to previous closing value of 61.07 per USD.
