The markets closed in the positive leaving yesterday’s fall in the backdrop. Nifty ended at 5278, up by 50 pts or +0.95%. The Sensex had gained 165 points to close at 17,361.
Airline stocks remained in the demand right from the morning. Jet Airways closed 2% higher. SpiceJet closed 7.6% higher.
Telecom, Capital goods, Cements and Banking stocks were up. ACC and Ambuja Cements closed higher. Bharti Airtel was among the major gainers on the index. The stock closed 3.7% higher.
GAIL and HDFC Bank closed over 2% from previous close.
Hero Motors Corporation also closed up by 3.7% in the green.
Among the stocks in the red, JSPL and Hindalco were down. ONGC and Coal India down by 1%.
Midcap stocks also gained in today’s trade. Adani Power up by 5%. Voltas was down by 4%.
