Nifty climbs up. Banking stocks in focus

Banking stocksStocks have seen buying interest on Friday, as the global cues remained stronger. The higher trading Asian markets have helped the Indian indices inch forward.

The NSE Nifty is up by 35 points at 6127, while the BSE Sensex is up by 121 points at 20658.

Stocks from the Banking sector are in focus today. The Bank Nifty has already gained 100 points to trade at 10531.

ICICI Bank has moved up by 1.6% at 1024. Bank of Baroda has continued to gain today with an upswing of 1.3%. PNB has also gained 0.6%. HDFC has seen a surge of 1% at 799. Axis Bank has seen a gain of 1.1%.

Some of the other counters which have seen rise are Tata Steel -which is up by 1.4%, Jindal steel – which has also seen a rise of 1.4% at 246.55

SSLT, SBI, and Indus Ind Bank have all gained nearly 1% each.

Bharti Airtel is however trading lower after reports have come that the telecom major has to pay a sum of $3 billion to the African telecom operator Econet Wireless. The stock is down by 1% and is trading at 294.50.
