Nifty closes above 5000. Infra stocks pull up.

Markets closed strongly in the green territory, after witnessing a good trading session. Trades were with positive bias right from the beginning of the session.

The Nifty closed at 5015, up by 60 pts or 1.2% higher.

Banking and infrastructure stocks were the top gainers in the trade today.

Reliance Infra was the highest gainer with gains nearing nearly 11%. The stock was in demand from the beginning of the trade. Over 5.8 million stocks were traded in this counter today.

Punj lloyd, gained over 7% to close at 49.50. L&T closed 3% higher, while JP Associates was up by 6%.

The Bank Nifty index closed 2% higher. ICICI Bank soared over 4% to close at 800. SBI closed 0.8% higher.

RCOM, from the telecom pack, was up by 4%. However its peer, Idea cellular was down by 2.7%. Bharti was also down by 1.3%.

Power major NTPC was up by 4.9%. Powergrid was up by 0.8%.

Real estate counter HDIL was up by full 10% in today’s trade. IVRCL Infra was up by 4%.

Jubilant foodworks closed 4% higher. Sugar stock Bajaj Hindustan also closed 5% higher in trade today.

Reliance capital is up by 3.7%.
