Nifty moves up by 34 points. Banking stocks flare up.

Markets have witnessed a strong opening in the morning session, with the Nifty moving up by more than 30 points. Many stocks from the banking and infrastructure sectors have shown gains.

The Nifty is at 6188, up by 33 points and the Sensex is trading at 20775, up by 115.20 points.

Stocks on the surge are private banking major ICICI Bank – which has smartly moved up by over 2% at 1120. PNB has gained 1.4% at 573. Bank of Baroda has gained 1.2%. Axis Bank is up by 1.4% at 1278.

However HDFC Bank has suffered losses of 2%. Power grid, BPCL and Asian Paints have also slipped in the trade today.

JP Associates from the infrastructure space, has moved up by 2.5%. Cipla from the pharma space is also up by 2.5%. Ranbaxy is up by 1.8% at 425.90

The CNX Midcap index has moved up by 53 points. Cummins India has smartly gained over 5%. Oriental Bank and Sintex industries have gained more than 2.3% each.
