The markets have continued to trade flat for a second consecutive day after witnessing strong buoyancy in the last week. Banking stocks continue to remain in focus in today’s trade as well.
The Nifty is up by 9 points at 6546 while the Sensex has moved up by 30 points at 21977.
Tata Power is the top gainer on the Nifty index. The stock has moved up by nearly 3% at 81.30. ICICI Bank is also up by 2% at 1217, adding up to the gains made in the last week.
LT has continued its upward journey by adding 1% today at 1249. TCS and Tata Motors have also gained 1 percent each.
IDFC, from the financial space is buzzing up with 2% gains. Wipro has added 1.4% to trade at 565.
Other stocks trading in the green include PNB – up by 1.4%, SBI – up by 1.3% and HCL Tech – up by 1.3%.
Metals stocks have however continued their slides. Tata steel is the top loser on the index with the stock losing 3% at 352. SSLT, Hindalco, NMDC and Jindal Steel have all come down with fresh losses ranging from 2-3%.
Rupee opens flat
The Indian rupee has also seen a flat opening at 60.79 per USD on Tuesday. Yesterday the rupee had closed at 60.84 a dollar.
