The Sensex was trading at 18535, up 33 points and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 1.5 points to 5,568. Even market breadth was quiet – about 589 shares advanced as against 646 shares declined on National Stock Exchange.
Heavyweights ONGC, Infosys, ITC, HUL, Wipro, HDFC, ICICI Bank and L&T were supporting the market, with rising 0.2-1%.
However, Reliance Industries, BHEL, TCS, HDFC Bank and NTPC were putting pressure, with falling 0.4-1%. SBI and Bharti Airtel too were on sellers’ radar a bit.
Crompton Greaves, Rushil Decor, Petronet LNG, MindTree, IRB Infra, Infosys and Exide Industries were most active shares on exchanges.
Page Industries surged 15%. MindTree rallied 10% post strong Q1 numbers. Petronet LNG, SKS Microfinance and Hexaware Tech gained 5-7%.
