Sensex and Nifty trade flat. Jet Airways down 9%

Markets have resorted to quiet trades again with the indices remaining nearly flat. Stocks from the capital goods and banking space, which had corrected yesterday, are seeing some buying interest.

The BSE Sensex is up by 30 points at 24580, while the NSE Nifty index has remained nearly flat with 6 points up at 7323.

Stocks that are buzzing with gains in today’s trade include BHEL – which had corrected yesterday. The stock has moved up by 3.6% at 254.35

Cement majors Ambuja Cements and ACC have seen gaining trades. Both have recorded 2.3% gains. Ultratech cement is also up by 1.8% at 2304.

Other stocks which are in the green include Bharti Airtel, NMDC, HCL Tech and Hero motors.

However Coal India has corrected in today’s trade. The stock is down by 2.7%. Housing major DLF is down by 2.4%. Kotak Bank, Asian Paints and M&M have all lost over 1.4% each.

IT counters are also trading flat on the index.


Jet Airways down by 9%

The stock of Jet Airways witnessed severe selling, as it went down by 9%. This comes in the wake of very poor results announced by the company yesterday. The company has reported a loss of Rs 2,153 crore for the previous quarter.


Rupee also opens flat

The Indian rupee has also seen a flat opening. The rupee saw a opening at 59.02 per USD as compared to its yesterday’s closing value of 59.04 per USD.
